Ep.36/ Show: Finneas @ MGM Music Hall in Boston, MA
Review of the Show:
On February 21st, Finneas brought the “For Cryin’ Out Loud” tour to a sold-out crowd at MGM Music Hall in Boston, Massachusetts. The 27-year-old artist filled the music hall with energy and connected with the audience while performing songs from his newest album, “For Cryin’ Out Loud,” which was released on October 4, 2024.
The crowd’s excitement was tangible as they cheered when Finneas took the stage and opened his show with “Starfucker,” the lead song on his new album. The beginning of his set was filled with fun and upbeat songs that got the audience dancing along, like “Lotus Eater” and “Cleats.”
It was very clear that Finneas was intentional about connecting with his fans. He mentioned that Boston was a favorite city of his and that the rest of the cities following would “be hard to top Boston.” It was clear that he was enjoying himself on stage as he danced and laughed around, and even grabbed a fan’s phone to record himself and the crowd on stage.
While Finneas was very keen on the audience, he was also very intentional about recognizing his band members on stage. At different points in the show, Finneas shouted out each band member as they had their own solos and showcased their talents. For example, he introduced Marinelli, who has actually opened for Finneas on many occasions, on the keys during “Sweet Cherries” before performing an amazing solo.
It’s very refreshing to watch an artist put effort into recognizing his band, his crew, the venue, and his audience. Before finishing the night with the title track from his new album, Finneas was overjoyed and extremely grateful to everyone in the building; he connected with the audience from the moment he stepped on stage to the moment he got off.
