Review of the Show:
On August 25th, 2024, the sensational musical group Glass Animals made their twelfth stop on their Tour of Earth in Cincinnati. Despite the intense heatwave that gripped the city, Cincinnati turned out in full force for an unforgettable night of music.
The evening began with an energetic performance by opener Kevin Abstract, who thrilled the crowd with hits like “Big Dog,” “Tennessee,” and “Empty.” His set was a great warm-up for the main event.
At 9 PM, Glass Animals took the stage, starting their show with “whatthehellishappening” from their latest album, I Love You So F**ing Much*. The band performed several tracks from the new album, including “Wonderful Nothing,” “Lost in the Ocean,” and “Show Pony,” but they also treated the audience to favorites from their earlier work.
Dave Bayley, the charismatic lead vocalist, was particularly engaging and energetic throughout the performance. During “Lost in the Ocean,” he performed on a platform that lifted him high above the crowd, creating a stunning visual effect as fans waved their phone flashlights. The excitement reached a fever pitch when Bayley ran into the crowd for a high-energy rendition of “Gooey,” prompting a massive reaction from the audience. Bayley even commented on the crowd's enthusiasm, noting it as one of the loudest of the tour so far.
The show concluded with their big hit single “Heatwaves,” ending the night on a high note. The set was visually striking, designed to resemble the interior of a spaceship, and featured impressive laser effects.
Despite the sweltering heat, it was a remarkable evening. Fans of Glass Animals will undoubtedly remember it as a standout moment of their weekend. For me, it certainly was a highlight.
