Review of the Show:
Taking the stage at Basement East on Saturday, October 7th, Dehd delivered a show to the crowd as only they could. At one moment calm and contemplative, the next exuberant and joyous, the band played through a number of their biggest hits as well as new material for the Nashville concert goers. The band was in peak form, with each member of the group giving a reliably great performance throughout the set. From Eric McGrady’s rock steady drum patterns to Jason Balla's passionate vocals and guitar and Emily Kempf’s unmistakable lead vocal chops and smooth bass lines, the band showed that they were more than comfortable playing as a unit and delivered each song in a flawless fashion, matching the already high quality of their acclaimed recorded material. It was hard not to get swept up in the energy of the show, between a setlist full of anthemic hits and Balla turning the stage into his own playground, running and twisting his way along the boards, letting the music flow freely while never seeming to miss a note. Ending the show with an encore of a newly recorded tune as well as bringing on stage their opening act, Sarah Grace White, along with other members of their touring repertoire for a supergroup rendition of “Desire”, Dehd left the crowd raving for more of their signature style of indie rock, and gave the audience another unforgettable night of rock in music city.
