Review of the Show:
It’s been 4 years since the 5-man-band, Young The Giant played in Nashville, TN. & my, what a performance it was…
When you walk into the venue, you immediately stop in your tracks as you look to your left & get your first view of the stage. Hanging it all it’s glory is a massive marigold canopy with a disco ball situated in the center. Four, smaller, circular stages are lined up to raise up the band accompanied with arches that hold detailed, oval windows; each with a different design.
The band hadn’t even stepped onto the stage yet, but the crowd was already on their feet and out of their seats as soon as the first clip to coincide with the first act played on the patterned background. The anticipation and tension was thick and as soon as Sameer Gadhia, lead singer of Young The Giant, made his way to the spotlight, the crowd erupted with applause and excitement.
I would be lying if I were to say that a Young The Giant show lacks energy. Even during the slower, more quiet, parts of the four act set, you could still feel the buzz floating through the amphitheater. Everywhere you looked, there were people dancing or singing along.
You could tell a certain level of attention and care went into the preparation of this show’s set. With five records & such a limited amount of time to play, squeezing so much into four acts and an encore needs to leave an impact. & succeed in that they did. They presented the show in the form of storytelling as they played video clips between acts and slightly rearranged the stage setup as necessary.
Young The Giant shows are purposeful with the energy they wish produce and the lasting memory they wish leave. If you haven’t had the chance to see them live quite yet, I suggest you do. You won’t regret it.
