About The Song:
This is her fourth single of eleven to be released this year (she’s on the grind!). The song is a queer, piano-driven love song with major dancing-round-the-kitchen vibes.
“It’s a Sunday morning and you’re entangled in sheets with your love, reading books to the soundtrack of soft breathing and birds chirping, warmed by the sun pouring through the glass. If that feeling was a song, that song would be “Cancel My Plans.” Molly’s rich vocals paired with a live upright bass and soulful keys make for a track that’s romantic and honest. Single 4 out of 10 for Molly this year is sure to have you spinning around your kitchen like the love-struck-ingenue in a rom-com.”
Review of the song:
Molly’s newest single ‘Cancel My Plans’, released on May 19, 2023, is a wonderful summertime blend of groovy soul and pop. The catchy lyrics detail the human experience of developing a love for someone that leaves you almost addicted. Throughout the length of the song, Molly repeats the phrase ‘I’d cancel my plans for you’. It is a wholesome take on domesticity and the contentedness that comes along with finding your ‘person’, complete with a catchy retro-sounding rhythm and harmonies that compliment Molly’s vocal talent.
Molly’s prior experience with musical theatre is evident throughout the length of the track, much like her songs ‘Back in ’08’ and ‘Woman’s Intuition’. While this song is consistent with the other music in Molly’s discography, it is not repetitive! ‘Cancel My Plans’ offers up something new and interesting that compliments Molly’s other work.
Overall, this song seems to be another great reflection of Molly Grace’s vibrant personality and her undeniable talent! It is certainly wroth a listen.
