About Emily James:

Singer-songwriter Emily James began writing her own music when she was 10 years old, inspired by such musical influences as Bob Dylan, Fleetwood Mac, and Adele. At 16, James moved from New York to Nashville and, a year later, released her self-written EP, Emily James, produced by Grammy award winners Ian Fitchuk (Kacey Musgraves) and Jacquire King (Kings of Leon). She relocated to Los Angeles in 2017 and, soon after, put out her project, Til the Morning, written by James  and produced by Ryan Hadlock (The Lumineers, Vance Joy). James wrote and produced her latest EP, “Illuminate”, which came out in July of 2022.

About The Song:
"Lovely Enough" sees Emily explores the pressures of being a woman and the fear of being 'too much' with her entrancing vocals and slow-burning instrumentation that builds until it breaks. Releasing at the end of Women's History Month, this song is a bittersweet  reminder that "It's very easy to go down a destructive path when you are so focused on pleasing everyone by trying to be the 'perfect' version of yourself and end up losing your true self in the process."

Review of the song:

Every little girl faces the crushing insecurities, the fear that no one will like you, the pain of wanting to fit in, the inability to be vulnerable… “Lovely Enough” encapsulates and represents those feelings to perfection.

Releasing right at the end Women’s History Month, it’s a bittersweet send-off and it reminds us that "It's very easy to go down a destructive path when you are so focused on pleasing everyone by trying to be the 'perfect' version of yourself and end up losing your true self in the process.". “Lovely Enough” sees Emily explore the pressures of being a woman and the fear of being 'too much' with her entrancing vocals and slow-burning instrumentation that builds until it breaks.

Music is something I use to express my feelings when words just simply aren’t enough. Emily flawlessly portrays the inner pain and thoughts of the struggles many people deal with. Her soft tone shows the wars and battles that rage on in the inside while we let “the elegant, effortless femininity” shine on the outside.

“Lovely Enough”, to me, is about the fight with embracing ourselves and our flaws while simultaneously worrying about the world not loving us enough if we become messy or unsteady. Emily, with her entrancing vocals and slow-burning instrumentation, has created an anthem for all the people who face the same struggles, the same strife. & my, isn’t it beautiful?
