About ‘We Three’:
We Three is a band based in Portland, OR & they have toured around the US and Europe and opened for Andy Grammer in 2022. Since releasing their Debut Album, they have managed to get over 216+ million streams, 1.3 million followers on TikTok, and overall gathered 30 million likes, and hundreds of thousands of dedicated followers. They have been introduced on AGT back in 2019, and they have been on the BBC Sunday Brunch in London (as a performer). They have a unique approach to songwriting, which can be described as “an unusual ability to deliver highly relatable songs” that are about relatable things; such as, writing songs about mental health, love and insecurities. The front man of the band; Manny Humlie, often packages the subject matter inside the melodies with razor-sharp productions.
About The Song:
The band captures the emotional turbulence of overthinking in the song ‘In Therapy’ while incorporating a musical reference to the band ‘The 1975’. This song is about uncovering your insecurities, but despite the subject matter in the song, it is also a song that celebrates and recognizes therapy in general, the need to talk and share and not to feel bad/guilty.
Review of the song:
The song itself has a country-like instrumental while the lyrics are talking about how there are times where we feel insecure and how there are times where we feel like we aren’t good enough to be loved by someone else (other than ourselves). This song has some lyrics that stand out to the meaning, like the lyric “[...] I think things that I shouldn’t be, like you love your ex more than you love me [...]”, which might be saying that the protagonist of the “story” is insecure about how their significant other might think about their current relationship and compare it to their past/previous relationship.
