Interview by: Venus Reed

It truly felt like a scene out of a movie. Naturally, I went into the studio the following week and wrote about it.”

  1. What is your songwriting process like? How do you come up with new ideas for songs?

    • I feel like my brain is in songwriter mode 24/7. I don’t go a day without finding inspiration in at least SOMETHING. Sometimes I’ll be having a conversation with my sister and she’ll say something and I’ll write it down to write about later. I also just love sitting down at the piano and seeing what comes to mind as I start to play random chords.

  2. What inspired you to start writing “Crying My Eyes Out?” What was the songwriting process like?

    • I wrote ‘Crying My Eyes Out’ after a night out with my friends. I was going out in an ATTEMPT to get over a guy that I had been head over heels for, for the longest time, but JUST MY LUCK… I saw him out with another girl. Time froze and my heart sank. He was holding her close and I was watching it all from the sidelines. It truly felt like a scene out of a movie. Naturally, I went into the studio the following week and wrote about it.

  3. What made you want to write music and sing in the first place?

    • I always knew I wanted to be a singer and a songwriter. I truly don’t think there was ever an “AHA!” moment for me where I realized that was what I was going to pursue because in my mind I was already on the path to pursuing it.

I started singing the summer before starting kindergarten and then just really never stopped. I eventually picked up writing at around 8 years old, in school, when I would enter poetry contests. I loved both things and inevitably ended up blending them together!

  4. My favorite song of yours is “Austin’s Song!” Do you enjoy writing songs like “Austin’s Song” that showcase your storytelling skills?

    • I love a good story! Any time I can take the listener to a deeper place and make them feel like they're in it with me, is a win. I grew up being such a fan of writing in all aspects, English was my favorite subject in school especially when I was younger writing creative stories. It’s always been a part of me.

  5. You’ve been able to collaborate with so many amazing artists like Bebe Rexha and Icona Pop. Who is your dream collaboration?

    • I’m on a huge Post Malone kick right now. I think that collaboration would be so unexpected. I’d love to work with him in any capacity. His voice is incredible.

  6. Do you have a favorite collaboration or collaborations that you have done so far?

    • I loved collaborating with Cian Ducrot on his song ‘I’ll be Waiting.’ We actually wrote that one over zoom and had known about each other for a while at that point, so finally getting to work together and also writing a viral hit with him was incredible. The song did really well with UK radio - where my family lives - so I’d get videos sent to me all the time of the song playing in the car. Unreal moment.

  7. What do you hope to accomplish in the future?

    • There are so many things I can't wait to tick off my aspiration list!! Headlining my own tour, releasing an album, hearing my songs on the radio are just a few.

  8. Any new projects you’re working on that we should expect? Will you be working on an album anytime soon?

    • Lots of new music coming your way - stay tuned :)
